Colorful Blue - Rainbow Series Clivia

The Colorful Clivia, also known as the Rainbow series, is a unique hybrid of the Coptis species that originated from the crossbreeding of *Coptis grandiflora* in Changchun. This variety stands out as one of the rare short-leaved Cyanaceae plants, developed through three generations of careful crossbreeding with the modern short-leaved *C. hybrida*. Its leaves are a stunning display of color, featuring shades of green, white, gray, yellow, light green, blue, and even purple. This vibrant palette makes it a true "colorful blue orchid." The plant has a compact, elegant appearance, with neatly arranged leaves that measure about 25 cm in length and 10–12 cm in width. The leaf surfaces are adorned with evenly distributed color stripes, creating a striking contrast between porcelain-white and deep green tones. The leaves have a glossy sheen, adding to their visual appeal. The leaf veins run both vertically and horizontally, forming a neat pattern with rounded, slightly raised tips. The leaves stand upright but gently curve inward, with the ends slightly curled upward. The flower stalks are short, reaching about 10 cm in height, while the individual flower stems measure around 3 cm. Both the flower spikes and blossoms exhibit uniform color patterns, enhancing the overall harmony of the plant. The flowers themselves are vibrant and rich in color, often displaying shades of golden red. After flowering, the plant produces spherical, oblate berries that feature evenly distributed color stripes or lobes. Additionally, the overlapping leaves form pseudo-bulbs with colorful markings, giving them a tower-like structure. This remarkable plant is not only visually striking but also a testament to the art of horticultural breeding, combining beauty, uniqueness, and resilience in a single, captivating form.
