Failing Forward and Nutella Chunk Cookies

Yesterday, I mentioned that I'd been failing forward, but what I didn't say is that this "failure" has been going on for a solid week now. Life with kids is always unpredictable, and some days feel like a whirlwind of chaos and laughter. This week, however, was far from the storybook-perfect moments I often share. By 10 AM on Monday, I was already at my wit's end trying to manage my grumpy brood. Spring cleaning had taken over our home—closets, drawers, bins, and shelves were all being emptied out. It was a logistical nightmare, with toys scattered everywhere and clothes needing immediate washing. On top of that, my youngest, Brayden, had a minor accident involving his outfit (three times this week, mind you), and my daughter Aliyah was dealing with what turned out to be a severe ear/sinus/eye infection that I hadn't fully grasped until later. In the midst of all this madness, my dad called to invite me and the kids for a trip to IKEA. At first, I hesitated. My brain was fried, and I had forgotten to pack snacks and water. But then, I realized—I needed this. I needed to get the kids out of the house, and I needed a breather too. So, despite leaving behind the essentials, we piled into the car and headed out. And guess what? We had a blast! My parents joined us, and even though I forgot the snacks, Nana saved the day by bringing her own supply. The kids loved it, playing around and soaking up all the attention from their grandparents. Watching my parents dote on my kids fills my heart with joy—it’s such a beautiful thing to see. While there, I stumbled upon something that caught my eye—a gorgeous curtain set that fit perfectly in our living room. I couldn’t resist. And to top it off, I didn’t even have to stop for coffee on the way home. Dad really knows how to make a girl smile! By the end of the day, I felt like I’d redeemed myself, even if only slightly. Speaking of redemption, I decided to try my hand at making Ivory Hut's Nutella Chip Cookies. I’ve always struggled with melting chocolate chips properly without a double boiler, but I figured why not give it another shot? I tied my hair back, slipped into my favorite red apron, and got to work. Unfortunately, my culinary skills didn’t quite measure up. The Nutella mixture didn’t turn out as smooth as I hoped, but instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to embrace the imperfection. Instead of trying to make neat little chips, I shaped the mixture into chunks. Surprisingly, these “chunks” added a delightful texture to the cookies, and they were still absolutely delicious. Failing forward, indeed. These cookies are made even better by browning the butter to a rich, nutty flavor. And let’s not forget my little helper who insisted on doing everything herself. Watching her take charge in the kitchen gave me a sense of pride and amusement. These cookies? They’re worth every calorie. In fact, they’re diet-breaking worthy. If you're looking to spice up your cookie game, give these a try. The combination of Nutella and hazelnuts is simply irresistible. Redemption number two came in the form of these cookies. They’re not perfect, but they’re definitely memorable. So, here’s to failing forward, learning from mistakes, and finding joy even in the chaos. Have a fantastic weekend, and remember—you don’t need perfection to create something truly special. [Insert signature image] P.S. Linking up with Supermom’s Friend Finding Friday.
