Brassinosteroids in plants

We may need to make a correction to the current view of brassinosteroids in plants. Brassinosteroids, along with auxins, gibberellins, and other plant hormones, play an important role in plant growth and development. In the past, it has been suggested that brassinosteroids signal pathways are involved in the regulation of the transcription factor BES1, and its regulation mechanism is similar to that of the Wnt signaling pathway in the posterior organism. However, a new analysis shows that a mechanism similar to the Wnt signaling mechanism is ineffective. BES1 in plants is not affected by changes that occur in subcellular localization but is always in the nucleus. Phosphorylation of BES1 inhibits its multimerization process, preventing it from binding to the target position of the brassinosteroid-responsive promoter.
