Fall breeding fly attention?

Flies are well-suited for survival and reproduction during the warm season. However, when it comes to artificial breeding in autumn, several key factors need special attention to ensure a healthy and productive environment for the flies. First, temperature control is crucial. In most regions, autumn temperatures range between 20°C and 30°C, with an average of around 25°C. In some areas, temperatures may drop below 20°C, which is not ideal for fly breeding. Flies typically thrive in temperatures between 20°C and 35°C, with the optimal range being around 30°C. If the temperature drops too low, it's important to implement heating and insulation measures. Close doors and windows early to maintain warmth, but allow ventilation during midday when it's warmer—usually for about two hours. The exact timing can vary depending on local conditions. If high temperatures persist, you can extend the ventilation time. Consider using fans or additional insulation to improve air circulation and remove stale air, ensuring a comfortable environment for the flies. Second, humidity management is equally important. Autumn often brings lower humidity, especially after the rainy season. In southern regions, where the air is more humid, flies are prone to developing digestive issues. To combat this, you can sprinkle lime or ash on the floor to absorb excess moisture, or place desiccants inside the breeding area. It’s recommended to check the hygrometer in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The ideal relative humidity for fly culture should be between 50% and 70%. If the level goes out of this range, the methods mentioned above can help restore balance. Third, water quality and frequency of changes should not be overlooked. Although water consumption decreases in autumn, it's still essential to maintain clean and fresh water for the flies. Since we often add brown sugar to their drinking water, the sponges used for feeding can become contaminated quickly if not changed regularly. Flies tend to feed and defecate on the same sponge, so leaving the water unchanged for too long can lead to bacterial growth and water degradation. It's advisable to replace the water at least once every three days to keep it clean and safe for the flies. By carefully managing temperature, humidity, and water supply, you can create an optimal environment for fly breeding throughout the autumn season. These practices not only support the health of the flies but also improve the overall success of your breeding operation. Author: Liu Chunjun Website: electricity
