An Australian performance artist has advanced the physical transformation by transplanting his ears on his arms, and he eventually hopes to connect to the network through this connection. Yes, it sounds a bit crazy, but for those involved, it is a serious long-term project involving science, art, and technology.
The artist named Stelarc first came up with the idea of ​​"the ear on his arm" 20 years ago, but it took him a full 10 years to find a medical team that was willing to operate for him. He said: "This ear is now part of my arm, it has been implanted and has its own blood supply."
Even in a very unusual part, the ear still looks very real, but Stelarc's third ear is not the result of genetic organ cloning - it requires organ culture before transplanting to a person. The surgeon performed a series of procedures to prepare and implant the ear-shaped prosthetic stent around which his skin and tissue grew.
Further work is intended to give the ear a more realistic three-dimensional look, which requires pulling the earlobe out of the arm and pulling it out, but at the same time keeping it in sync with Stelarc's own genetic material. The artist explained on his website that this "earlobe" is most likely to consist of a "package" that invades the skin, which is filled with adipose stem cells and mature fat cells. In other words, this earlobe will be partially cultivated by my own adult stem cells. This is illegal in the United States, so it will be implemented in Europe. Because it is somewhat experimental, we can't guarantee that the stem cells will grow evenly and smoothly, and it is likely to grow into a broccoli-shaped ear.
A microphone is successfully implanted along with the ear mount, although it needs to be removed as a result of the infection. Stelarc is also a professor at the Curtin University School of Humanities in Western Australia. He tried to replace the original microphone with a new wireless device to transmit audio to the network and be tracked by GPS.
