Classification and characteristics of powder mixing equipment in the pharmaceutical industry

Disadvantages of the container rotary mixer:

(1) The large-capacity mixer has a relatively large footprint and requires a solid foundation;

(2) The charging coefficient is small, and the mixture material and the container rotate at the same time for overall mixing, so the rotary type requires more energy consumption than the fixed type;

(3) Special equipment needs to be made for positioning or parking;

(4) When the difference in physical properties of the mixture is large, the ideal mixture is generally not obtained;

(5) Compared with the fixed type, the noise of the rotary type is relatively large.

2, container fixed type
In the pharmaceutical industry, the container-fixed type has a groove type (horizontal ribbon), a vertical ribbon, a planetary cone (double spiral), and a gas agitating type. This type of mixing equipment is generally suitable for mass production. In addition to the Bolz-Summix cone screw mixer (the internal structure of which can be applied to the production of sterile products) and the airflow mixing type, other types are less used in the pharmaceutical industry. .

Container fixed mixer features:

(1) It has good adaptability to the mixture of strong cohesiveness and adhesion;

(2) When the difference between the mixed materials is large, the influence on the mixed state is small;

(3) It is possible to carry out the mixing of the added liquid and the mixing of the wet agglomerated materials;

(4) The loading factor is large and the energy consumption is relatively small.

Disadvantages of container-mounted mixers (except for Bolz-Summix cone screw mixers and airflow agitation):

(1) The mixed container type is generally difficult to clean thoroughly, and it is difficult to meet the batch cleaning requirements;

(2) The horizontal mixed container type discharge is generally not clean;

(3) The model equipped with a high-speed rotor has a tendency to re-crush the brittle material, which tends to heat the material.

3, composite type
The so-called composite type means that on the basis of the rotary type of the container, a device for stirring the material is added inside the container, and it can also be said that it is an extension of the rotary type of the container. In the pharmaceutical industry, there are often one-dimensional motion mixing (rolling motion mixer), two-dimensional motion mixing (rock mixer), V-type mixing or double cone mixing of internal mixing blades, and ball mixing.

The composite type is compatible with the characteristics of the rotary type of the container, and overcomes the uneven mixing of the material with coagulation or adhering materials, so that the mixing of such equipment is more uniform. This type of equipment is often used in the production of solid and non-sterile preparations.
