The "Lotus Petal Blue Neutron Mother Flower" series is a highly coveted orchid species among Yilan Ailan enthusiasts. In recent years, the development of the "Tian Jiao" generation has stood out for its striking plant structure, vibrant colors, unique patterns, and ease of identification. This variety combines the elegance of lotus petals with the exotic charm of Chinese ice-flower patterns, making it a true gem among orchids. Known as one of the finest in the mother-of-pearl flower series, it holds great ornamental value and significant market potential.
Tian Jiao was first discovered in early 2005 in the Sanjiang Valley of Yunnan Province, where only two seedlings with half-open flowers were found. Later, Dali State took an interest in cultivating these orchids, and Mr. Zhu Chang'en, a renowned orchid enthusiast from West Anhui, acquired a large number of plants through a friend from Baoshan. Over the past few years, under Mr. Zhu’s careful care, this generation has flourished, showing remarkable grace and beauty. Every year, many orchid lovers come to purchase it, but Mr. Zhu remains reluctant to sell. As a result, this rare flower remains largely unknown outside of a select circle, with many in the blue world only hearing its name without ever seeing its true beauty.
The Tian Jiao generation is a petal orchid mother flower, typically featuring 5–7 leaves per plant, with leaf lengths ranging from 30 to 50 cm and widths between 0.6 to 1 cm. It has a semi-upright growth habit and blooms in early spring, producing 3–4 flowers per inflorescence. Each bloom can have 5–9 flowers opening simultaneously, offering a visually stunning display. The large flowers are multi-lobed, multi-tongued, and multi-colored, with a lotus-petal-like appearance and pink tones. The smaller flowers also bloom normally, showcasing butterfly petals, tongue flowers, five-star butterflies, and six-star butterflies. This orchid is truly unique, with tongues growing along the entire stem and small flowers emerging at the base of the main lateral lobes of the large calyx. The entire inflorescence blooms in a patchwork pattern, creating a harmonious and breathtaking visual effect. It is indeed a rare treasure among orchids.
Tian Jiao is a rare and precious variety within the Lilium chinensis family, developed in recent years. When it first appeared, it captured the attention and admiration of both domestic and international orchid lovers. Over the past few years, each blooming season has brought more beautiful and refined flowers. Some famous orchid experts and literary figures have even dubbed it "the flower of Lan." With time, the Tian Jiao generation will continue to shine, leading the global orchid scene and earning worldwide recognition. It is now highly cherished by orchid enthusiasts around the globe.
