The summer soybeans in many places in our province appeared to be blooming only in the past year. According to Chen Xin, a researcher in the legume crops research institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, last year, the phenomenon of “flowering but not realizing†of soybeans was serious, except in 20 years. The high temperature and dry weather are also related to factors such as improper selection of varieties and early sowing. Soybean varieties should be selected scientifically in production and sown in appropriate periods to prevent soybeans from being "flowery but not real." According to Chen Xin’s introduction, soybeans are short-day, warm-weather crops that require a short duration of sunshine to enter the reproductive growth stage, normal flower bud differentiation and flowering. The fresh soy varieties sowed in spring in our province are varieties that are not sensitive to the length of sunshine under artificial breeding conditions. These varieties are more sensitive to temperature, and they will bloom when the effective accumulated temperature reaches the variety requirements. In our province, if these varieties are grown as summer soybeans, it is easy to flower early. Due to the short growing season, the amount of nutrient growth is insufficient, the number of flowering and scarring is small, and the yield is low. Soybean seeds sown in spring in our province are mainly imported from the northeast region. Soybean seeds so transferred from the northeast cannot be used for summer sowing in our province. Soybean varieties sown in summer have high requirements for short-day sunshine. If such varieties are sown as spring soybeans, the plants will flourish in the field, and even the emergence of vines will occur, but they will not bloom. In addition, the varieties of summer soybean in Huainan and Huaibei regions of our province cannot be used universally. The varieties introduced in Huaibei region will be brought into early maturity in Huainan region and the yield will be low; the varieties in Huainan region will be delayed in the mature period in Huaibei region, and there will be no safe maturation. The risks are often expressed as "flowers are not real." Therefore, the selection of soybean varieties should be used to identify the suitable region and the appropriate sowing date. At present, the spring sown fresh soybean varieties suitable for planting in our province are Sudou No. 5, Suza No. 1, Nipponbare No. 3, 95-1, and Liaoxian series. Summer sowing variety Huainan area can use Sudou No.4, Tongdou No.7, Nannong No.26 and so on. Fresh soy-sowing soybeans can be selected from Sudou No.6, Tongdou No.6 and Huaidou No.10. The summer sowing variety in Huaibei area can choose to use 2 varieties such as Guandou 2, Huaidou 9, Huaidou 8, Xudou 15, Xudou 17 and Zhonghuang 13. The suitable sowing time for spring soybean in our province is around the Ching Ming Festival. The suitable sowing date for summer soybean in Huaibei area is mid-June, and the suitable sowing period for Huainan area is late June. Summer soybean sowing too early, sowing before June 10, even planting at the end of May, will cause the plant vegetative growth period is too long, the physiological age of soybean flowering is too old, there is only the phenomenon of flowering does not scar. Each species type has its own suitable sowing date, which cannot be arbitrarily changed, and should be sown in combination with the characteristics of the varieties. In addition, the plants are seriously deficient in molybdenum and boron deficiency, or the population is too large, poor ventilation and light transmission in the field, and imbalance in the distribution of organic matter, can also cause soybeans to bloom only without scarring. Molybdenum and boron fertilizers should be properly applied in production, and they should be densely planted. The number of plots with high fertility should be controlled at about 10,000 per mu, and that of medium fertility should be controlled at 1.3 to 15,000 per mu.
