Indoor cultivation of garlic

Garlic cultivation is a quick-cycle, high-income agricultural practice that can yield about 15 kg per corn, with each plant producing two garlic bulbs. If you're interested in growing blue garlic, it's essential to focus on three key aspects: preparation before planting, proper planting techniques, and effective management during growth. First, preparation is crucial. Before planting, choose high-quality seeds, prepare the containers, select suitable soil, and soak the garlic cloves. Both purple and white garlic can be grown indoors. White garlic is often preferred because it sprouts faster, has a higher yield, and is more cost-effective. To grow white garlic, use a wooden box that’s 65 cm wide, 20 cm deep, and 10 cm tall. Fill the box with 5 cm of bed soil, which should be a mix of 30-40% chicken manure, 60-70% field soil, and a small amount of cooked bean cake for added nutrients. Soak the garlic cloves in cold water for 20 hours, then remove the stems and old root plates—be careful not to damage the cloves themselves. Next, planting. Level the soil inside the box and place the prepared garlic cloves closely together, pressing them gently into the soil. Cover them with 3–4 cm of sand and water the bed thoroughly. This helps maintain moisture and encourages healthy root development. Finally, management. After planting, maintain a daytime temperature of 20–30°C and nighttime temperatures between 18–20°C. Within 7 days, the garlic should begin to sprout. When the seedlings reach 3–4 cm in height, adjust the temperature to 18–20°C during the day and 15–20°C at night. Water the plants every 2–3 days, using 4–5 kg of water per corn. As the seedlings grow, increase the watering frequency to 6–7 kg every 2–3 days. In the later stages of growth, water every 4–5 days, applying 4–5 kg per square meter. Make sure the water is slightly warm, not too cold. When the seedlings reach 30–40 cm in height, apply potassium fertilizer at a concentration of 500–1000 times (with 10% more than normal). For taller seedlings, use a 2000-time dilution when they are around 10 cm tall. Once the garlic reaches 25 cm in height, it’s ready for harvest. A light watering before harvesting will help the seedlings stand straight, making them easier to market and sell. This method ensures a successful and profitable garlic farming experience, especially for small-scale family operations. With proper care and attention, you can enjoy a steady income from this fast-growing crop.
