Lily Management Techniques

There are many types of lilies and appropriate measures can be taken depending on the type and time of reproduction. Common methods include seeding, bulblet, scale cutting, and branch shoots.
Seeding reproduction sowing is sexual reproduction, mainly applied in breeding. Seeds can be sowed after harvesting, but they can also be sown in the spring of the following year and germinated about 20-30 days after sowing. Seedlings should be shaded properly and water and fertilizer management must be strengthened. Small bulbs can be formed in the fall. Seed seedlings have different flowering time because of different species. For example, Lilium squamosa can bloom one year, some bloom three years, and some need to cultivate for many years to bloom.
This method can be used to plant 1 or several strains of small bulbs. The mother plant forms bulblets on the underground stem nodes, and sometimes forms bulblets at the base of the parent strain. When the lily is harvested in September-October, these bulbs can be separated and planted or sanded separately until the following spring. When planting should be deep, all germinate after 20 days. In the third year from September to October, you can grow large bulbs and grow large plants. This method has a small amount of breeding and is only suitable for family pot propagation.
The bead-bearing method is divided into the bud-shooting method and it is only suitable for a few varieties. Such as lily, yellow iron cannon and other lilies, use this method. The bulblets (also known as "beads") formed on the stems and leaves of the ground were removed after they were fully grown in the summer but not yet exfoliated. The bulbs can be formed in that year, and the soil can be sprouted in the spring of the following year, and the plants can be planted again in the fall. Most of them can bloom after 3 years. To promote multiplication of buds for budding, after the plants have blossomed, the stems will be overwhelmed and shallowly buried. The above-ground stems will be divided into small pieces with 3-4 pieces of leaves. Shallow buried stem sections will be placed in wet sand. Bead shoots can grow from room to room.
Scales were used to dig bulbs in the fall, and the scales, which were full and thick on the old scales, were branched off one by one. The base of each scale should have a small portion of stems and plates, and it was slightly dry. Then cut into the flowerpots or light wooden boxes that hold river sand (or vermiculite), insert 2/3 of the scales into the matrix, and keep the substrate at a certain humidity. At about 20°C, for about one and a half months, the flake wounds root. The humidity in winter should be maintained at about 18°C, and the river sand should not be too wet. In the spring of the following year, the scales will grow small bulbs, divide them up, plant them in pots, and carefully manage them. After 3 years of cultivation, they can bloom.
